For many years now I
have been experimenting with the dramatic, fluid and
graceful forms that can be created by cutting one piece
of wood most, but not all the way through and then
expanding it by steam bending. This method has led
to clean, honest forms where the structure is the
ornamentation. The Dreamcatcher Hall Table
is my most ambitious effort yet. All of the Ash
(the light wood) structure started as one piece of wood
2 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 36" long. Like an accordion it
has been expanded into a form over 12" x 40". The
bottom and top were then stabilized with the Mahogany
pieces, creating an extremely strong table.
Dreamcatcher is
available in a variety of woods and sizes to suit client
needs and can be proportioned to serve as a side table,
display table, or console/hall table.
