Dreamcatcher Hall Table

For many years now I have been experimenting with the dramatic, fluid and graceful forms that can be created by cutting one piece of wood most, but not all the way through and then expanding it by steam bending. This method has led to clean, honest forms where the structure is the ornamentation. The Dreamcatcher Hall Table is my most ambitious effort yet. All of the Ash (the light wood) structure started as one small board. Like an accordion it has been expanded into a form over 6 times its size. The bottom and top were then joined to the Mahogany top and stretchers, creating an extremely strong and light bridge-like structure in this console table.
